Inside or Outside

All of a sudden, my day-time calendar is beginning to free up as summer approaches. This allows for longer blocks of time to do things - - requiring longer blocks of time! Since the porch is finally open (and the errant sprinkler head has been repositioned making the porch usable too!) I thought it was time to bring the spinning wheel out of hibernation and get some spinning done.

However, and I'm thinking my fellow Minnesotans will chime in here with some very strong opinions, temperatures yesterday were above 95 degrees and today's are expected to be 92 degrees with very strong breezes. The question, is do I spin outside . . .

. . . or inside? In the basement - where it will be 66 degrees and I'll probably have to turn on the fireplace to take the chill out of the air.

Sure Signs

A weekend full of sunshine and moderate (50s) temperatures finally send some shoots of spring our way. I say moderate because around here, some people say 50 degrees is "beautiful". I've recently been to "beautiful" - this is still cold.

Mr. decided to plant the tulip bulbs in the planters this year - as opposed to in the garden. We have too many bunnies (cute!!) and deer (cuter!!) in the yard who believe the tulips are planted for their culinary delight. Any treatment sprayed on the tulips, hosta etc., to keep the said creatures away, well, they just think it's salad dressing.Mr. is quite pleased that this plan appears to be working, and the bunnies and bambis seem to be staying away . . . [ insert ominous music here ].
I'm guessing that the deer won't come this close to the house. Must mean the bunny living under the deck can jump! Bet Mr. didn't know that.

Another sure sign of spring - the Easter Retriever. Who should be doing a better job of keeping that darn bunny away. The thing is, she'd rather play with the bunny - especially now with the matching ears and all.

It Never Gets Cold Old

We here in the Upper Midwest find that if we just.keep.talking about it, we feel so much better about the . . . weather.

7:10 AM, according to the thermostat.

7:15 AM, according to the car
.

This outside thermometer doesn't even believe it could get colder than -10 degrees. Silly outside thermometer.

It is now 8 hours later. I have not left the house all day. Hmmmm, wonder why?
According to WeatherBug. Note the wind chill at -23 degrees. Please believe people who tell you wind chill is real.
A 16 degree warm up. In the summer, this would be HUGE. From 80 - 96 degrees in 8 hours - would be unheard of. Today, you wouldn't notice a difference. Einstein was right - again.

Unseasonable

Sammy is confused. The window to the kitty "office" (the porch) is once again open. And because the furniture is all tucked away or covered up for winter, she's not sure what to make of this.
It's OK kitty - go on out. You may not get many more chances like this. Find a sunbeam to curl up in.Because as of 9:00 this morning, it's 70 degrees on the porch and heading for 75 and sunny!

And we'll take that in November any day!

Seriously??

There's an inch or more out there already and it's still coming down. I'm headed for the basement; call me in June.
